The two-day Inter-College Folk and Tribal Dance Competition was conducted from February 20 to 21, 2023, at Miranda House, University of Delhi. Organized by the Culture Council, University of Delhi in collaboration with Miranda House, the event brought together 21 teams representing the vibrant diversity of India’s folk and tribal dance traditions.

Closing Ceremony:
The final day concluded with a colorful and energetic closing ceremony. Mr. Lather emphasized cultural preservation through dance, while Prof. Kumar lauded the participants for their authentic and captivating performances. Over 500 audience members witnessed the festive celebration.
Competition Highlights:
The performances featured a wide range of dance forms including Chari, Devrattam, Bhangra, Giddha, Garba, Gondhal, Karagattam, Luddi, Manipuri, Kalbelia, Bamboo Dance, Kolattam, and Terah Taali. The energetic displays, stunning costumes, and cultural accuracy left a lasting impression on attendees.

1st: Maitreyi College – Karagattam Dance
2nd: Shri Guru Gobind Singh College – Bhangra Dance
3rd: Miranda House – Garba Dance
Excellence Awards:
Sri Venkateswara College – Chari Dance
Guru Nanak Dev Khalsa College – Bhangra Dance
This initiative by the Culture Council reaffirmed the role of performing arts in fostering national integration, cultural pride, and creative expression.
Inter-College Theatre (Mime) Competition

Students from ten colleges across DU showcased their mime skills in brief yet impactful performances, reflecting a range of societal themes and human emotions through silence and expression.

The Inter-College Music (Folk Orchestra) Competition took place on February 14, 2023, at Indraprastha College for Women, University of Delhi. This was the first-ever edition of the competition, which saw teams from various colleges of DU come together to celebrate the rich diversity of Indian folk music.
