Three-Day Workshop in Drawing & Painting

Key Highlights

Objective: 
To enhance students’ artistic skills and provide hands-on experience in painting under expert guidance.

Opening Ceremony: 
– The workshop was inaugurated on March 21, 2023, with Sh. Anoop Lather, Chairperson of the Steering Committee, as the Chief Guest.
– Sh. Anoop Lather emphasized the importance of students’ participation and painting as a skill-enhancement tool.
– Prof. Ravinder Kumar, Dean of the Culture Council and Convenor of the workshop, welcomed distinguished members and the resource person, Sh. Sidharth.
– Prof. Kumar assured participants of organizing similar events in the next academic year.

Participation:
– 23 students from various colleges and departments actively participated in the workshop.

Activities and Expert Guidance: 
– Students learned to create beautiful art pieces under the supervision of Sh. Sidharth, a renowned painter and sculptor.
– Sh. Sidharth has participated in over 135 group shows in the UK, Sweden, the US, Singapore, Hong Kong, and India.
– His unique teaching style included painting while singing, creating an immersive experience for students.
– Students also shared their experiences of blending art with music, making the workshop enjoyable and inspiring.

Achievements of Resource Person:
– Sh. Sidharth was awarded an honorary degree of D. Lit. by Punjab University, Patiala, in 2012.

Valedictory Session:
– Prof. Rajni Abbi, Proctor, University of Delhi, motivated and cheered the students during the valedictory session.
– Dr. Hemant Verma, Joint Dean of the Culture Council and Coordinator of the event, welcomed Prof. Rajni Abbi during the session.

Special Interaction:
– All participants, along with their documents, had the opportunity to meet Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh at the VC Office.

Outcome
– The workshop provided a platform for students to enhance their artistic skills under expert guidance.
– Participants gained valuable insights into painting techniques and enjoyed the unique integration of art and music.
– The event was well-received and deemed a resounding success.

Creative Workshop on Portraiture and Photography

Dates: Jan 30 – Feb 02, 2024

Day 1: Basics of Camera

  • Introduction to the basics of using a digital camera.
  • Key topics covered:
    • Shooting modes
    • Shutter
    • Aperture
    • ISO
    • White balance
  • Discussion on creating creative and technically superior images.

Day 2: Theory of Composition and Lighting with Masters’ Work

  • Doubt-clearing session from the previous day.
  • Theory of Composition and Lighting introduced.
  • Discussion on the works of famous master photographers.
  • Objective: Enhance students’ understanding and inspire creativity for powerful imagery.

Day 3: Theory of Portraiture and Practical Demo Session

  • Focus on fine art portrait photography due to rainy weather.
  • Key activities:
    • Theory of portraiture photography.
    • Analysis of works by master photographers.
    • Demo shoot on fine art creative portraiture.
  • Students received assignments to create their own creative portraits.

Day 4: Practical Shoot and Final Submission

  • Students presented their portraiture ideas, which were refined by Nitin Sir.
  • Practical session:
    • Students were divided into teams for their shoots.
    • Guidance provided during the shoots.
  • Final submission and portfolio review.
  • Best photographs selected by Nitin Rai Sir, with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places awarded.
