Culture Council
The Role of the Culture Council at the University of Delhi in Promoting Socio-Cultural Talents and Unity
The Culture Council of the University of Delhi was established by the Executive Council (EC) vide Resolution No. 186, dated 25th March 1989. The objectives of the Council are to discover, develop, train, and promote socio-cultural talents and interests among the students and staff of the University of Delhi.
The Culture Council, University of Delhi, serves as a platform to nurture talent, encourage exploration, and promote cultural understanding among our diverse student body, who possess extraordinary talent and passion across various domains of the arts.
The Council believes that culture is a powerful force that unites us, transcending boundaries and fostering a sense of unity and pride. Cultural events provide an opportunity to rediscover our roots and remind ourselves of our tangible and intangible heritage, which has evolved over generations.
Cultural programmes play a pivotal role in society by fostering a sense of identity, understanding, and appreciation for diverse cultures. They promote cultural preservation by showcasing traditional arts, music, dance, and literature, ensuring that heritage is passed down to future generations. These programmes also facilitate cross-cultural understanding and tolerance, breaking down barriers and promoting inclusivity in multicultural societies. They encourage dialogue, empathy, and respect, thereby reducing prejudice and discrimination. Furthermore, cultural programmes stimulate creativity and innovation, inspiring artists and performers to express themselves and push boundaries.
